Eight major types of forests are distributed throughout the Philippines: 

1. dipterocarp, 
2. beach forest, 
3. pine forest, 
4. molave forest, 
5. lower montane forest, 
6. upper montane (or mossy forest), 
7. mangroves, and 
8. ultrabasic forest
